Composites
Manufacturing Facility
What are composites?
Fibre reinforced composites - a combination of materials combined
in a matrix to achieve particular mechanical properties. Both for
structural and aesthetic purposes.
Applications:
Aerospace, Defence, Mining, Marine, Space shuttles, aeroplanes, transport
fairings (panels, car and trucking components), yachts
& boats, windmill blades, water-tanks, structural & decorative
building components, form-work, trailers, eskies, freezer rooms, garden
landscaping features, machinery covers, mining equipment, film-sets,
special effects theme parks and sub-sea structures.
• Design
• Pattern & plug making
• Tooling (including high temperature tooling)
• Manufacture
7 Axis Robots:
Machining plugs & patterns for various industries (see above)
Including low volume moulds. Maximum machining envelope - 22m long
by 6m by 3m.
Technical Aspects:
Concept stage to manufacture.
Design in 2D & 3D, preliminary concept design, structural analysis,
visualisation, animation of concept, generation of plug & mould
design & manufacture of moulds – manufacture of product.
Materials:
Polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy - Sourced from world’s leading
manufacturers - at forefront of innovation and technology.
Urethanes (synthetic rubber) Products - Used in highly abrasive applications,
piping pigs, mining applications, encapsulating sensor, small run
production parts, in varying hardness.
